Canada bans dogs from over 100 countries. After roughly 6 years in the works, Canada will no longer allow entry to dogs from countries considered “high risk” for rabies, including Ukraine from which many citizens and animals are fleeing war. Pets entering with their owners will be allowed as the ban specifies “commercial” dogs, or dogs intended to be adopted, sold, bred, or used in research. Supporters hope the ban will protect pets and also limit puppy mills. The ban will go into effect on September 28.

The gut microbiome is related to many aspects of health and an imbalance can cause issues with digestion, immune system, and mental health.
