Florida bill would impact pet owners. FS Bill 932 aims to incr ease animal protection by banning cat declawing and animal testing for cosmetics. It would also ban dogs from hanging their heads out the window during car rides. If it passes dogs would be required to be in a crate, wear a pet seatbelt, or be supervised by a passenger. Dogs would be able to ride in the bed of a truck but must be crated or restrained.

Bindle water bottles recalled, including Puppy Pack. Bindle is voluntarily recalling their bottles due to exposed lead in the snack compartment. If you are using a Bindly Puppy Pack bottle for your dog’s treats be sure to check their website for further instructions and discontinue use immediately. Lead poisoning symptoms include lethargy, anorexia, tremors, and seizures.
Chernobyl dogs help scientists study radiation. After the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, many dogs were l eft behind. Since then these free-roaming dogs have surprisingly thrived and there are now over 300 dogs in the area. Scientists are studying these dogs to better understand the long-term effects of radiation and how best to survive a similar situation. They’ve identified 15 unique family groups and have found the Chernobyl dogs are genetically distinct from other dogs outside the exclusion zone.
Boston mourns local celebrity. Spencer, a golden retriever known as the Boston Marathon’s most famous spectator has passed away f rom cancer at the age of 13. After rising to internet fame in 2018 Spencer has been a staple at the 3-mile mark. He’ll be remembered for holding a Boston Strong flag in his mouth, posing for pictures, and enjoying pats from the runners.
LA city council voting on robotic dogs. LAPD is up for a grant to acquire a Quadruped Unmanned Ground Vehicle (QUGV) to support the department. The LAPD claims the robot will protect officers from engaging in dangerous situations such as active shooters and natural disasters. Critics express concern over possible misuse and intimidation, especially against people of color. It is stated the robot will not include weapons or facial recognition.
Man surrenders dogs to avoid charges. An El Campo man has surrender ed his 27 chihuahuas in order to prevent the filing of animal cruelty charges. Local ordinances limit dog ownership to 5 and the city received reports that the man had significantly more. The dogs were being kept outside in poor conditions and crowded yards. They are currently being vet checked and will soon be up for adoption.
Arizona dog breaks world record. Bisbee, an English Setter from Arizona is now the proud holder of the world’s longest tongue on a living dog title! His tongue measures 3.74 inches measured from below the tip of his snout to the end. Bisbee loves swimming, hiking, and spending time with his family.
