The AI will collect and analyze photos of people and their dogs to identify owners who don’t pick up their dog’s poop. Working dogs to bring safety to schools.

Working dogs to bring safety to schools. Lawmakers in Lansing Michigan are working to create a program to prevent school shootings. Elite Detection K9 raises and trains detection dogs to sit in the presence of even the smallest amounts of gunpowder and can be used to patrol schools. New research sheds light on canine DCM. A study from BSM Partners and the University of Missouri has been comparing the annual reported cases of canine dilated cardiomyopathy and the newly collected data for sales of grain-free food. Between 2000 and 2019 nothing indicates a significant connection between DCM and grain-free dog foods, despite the spike in grain-free sales between 2011-2019. While nutrition may be related, it appears that grain-free diets are not connected.

Missing goat milk in Massachusetts.

Missing goat milk in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources has decided to expand its ban on the sale of raw milk for human consumption to include sales for pet consumption, despite the many benefits. Some pet owners are traveling to nearby New Hampshire to purchase raw milk while others have stopped adding it to their dog’s diet entirely. Store owners are hopeful that if enough people reach out to the MDAR they may change the ban. Currently, raw milk for pet consumption is technically legal in every state except Michigan and now Massachusetts, but states do have the ability to change that.

Bipartisan legislation will expand Beagle Brigade.

Bipartisan legislation will expand Beagle Brigade. As African Swine Fever spreads throughout multiple countries, the government is working to protect the US. An ASF outbreak could quickly wipe out entire pig farms and devastate food production so trained beagles use their nose to find infected sources at airports. The “beagle brigade act” will add legisla tive funding to expand this team of super sniffers rather than depending on USDA user fees.
