The pet food shortage is real, and it’s been a waking nightmare for pet owners everywhere. Shortages of labor, raw materials and transportation are crimping the human food supply, from beverages to snacks. The challenge is the same for pet food, and is even more acute, because of the sudden high demand. More people have adopted pets during the Covid-19 pandemic, and pet owners are buying bigger volumes of food. Pet-food sales at supermarkets grew 6.9% over the past 52 weeks ended Nov. 27, compared with 2.3% for food overall

Pet dog has saved the life of a baby. The woman said that their dog kept breaking into the nursery and kept trying to wake their baby up. The family could barely understand its behavior. Speaking about the incident, she tweeted: "Last night the dog kept breaking into the nursery and waking the baby. She's been sick, and I was getting so fed up with him." However, it's because of the constant nagging of the dog that the parents realized that their baby had stopped breathing. The canine was only trying to wake up the baby.

Monkeys were captured after killing 250 dogs in India. Two monkeys have been captured by authorities in India after they killed around 250 dogs in "revenge" attacks following the death of a baby monkey. Officials with the forest department from the Beed district of Maharashtra state said the monkeys were trapped on Sunday and released in their natural habitat. The monkeys were transported to a forest near Nagpur where they were released.

Dog credited with saving family from carbon monoxide poisoning. A family is crediting their family dog (Roxy) with alerting them when the odorless gas carbon monoxide leaked into their home. The owner said Roxy is normally mild-mannered, but that night she was unusually active, jumping up and down on the bed. They then heard the home’s carbon monoxide detector go off. They were able to gather the family and get out safely.

Nearly 2,000 dogs in Amravati infected with canine parvovirus. The WASA Conservation organization in the city said the government clinic is getting reports of at least 20 dogs getting infected with the virus daily. The organization also said as many as 17 infected stray dogs died in November alone. While this isn’t happening in America, it is still important to make sure you are keeping your dog away from parvo as best as possible.

Illegal ear cropping on the rise in UK due to social media. Celebrities and influencers displaying the “striking” look of cropped ears on bully breeds has created a demand in the UK, where the procedure has been illegal since 2006. A BBC investigation has found multiple breeders in the UK offering the illegal service along with fraudulent documentation implying it was done elsewhere. A proposed bill would limit the importation of dogs with cropped ears but currently a loophole in the law allows it. Some of these dogs cost up to £13,000 and include ear cropping, a microchip, and a forged pet passport.

Iranian parliament proposes legislation to ban pets. The Iranian parliament is floating a legislation that would ban most household pets. The legislation is being introduced to protect the country from the influence of 'unclean' and 'un-Islamic' animals. The bill on the “protection of public rights against dangerous and harmful animals,” would ban citizens from owning, breeding, and transporting dogs, cats, rabbits, and other common pets.
