When Extra Pounds Turned Into Protection

A 140-pound dog named Yuanyuan in China survived being run over by a car; all thanks to his extra layers of fat! Neighbors rushed to lift the car off him, and to everyone’s surprise, X-rays showed no broken bones or internal injuries. Vets believe his body fat actually cushioned the impact and saved his life. The story quickly went viral, with people joking that “fat really can save lives.” Yuanyuan is now recovering well and back to his usual routine of lounging and playing.

Hero Pup Leads Deputy to Injured Grandma

An 86-year-old Florida woman is safe thanks to her son’s dog, Eeyore, who guided a deputy straight to her after she fell during their nightly walk. When the woman didn’t return home, her worried husband called police and not long after, Deputy Devon Miller spotted Eeyore wandering nearby. The loyal pup led her across a property to where the woman was lying injured near a golf course. “Good boy!” the deputy said as they waited for help, while the woman lovingly told him, “Grandma loves you!” Thanks to Eeyore’s quick thinking, his favorite walking buddy made it home safely.

Hiker Reunites Lost Dog with Tearful Owner.

While hiking near Umpqua Hot Springs, Oregon, backpacker Jason Hawkins spotted a lost dog deep in the woods. The skittish pup ran at first, but Hawkins patiently gained its trust, using a tripod as a makeshift leash to safely contain it. After a tense hour and a half, he guided the dog back to the parking lot and contacted its owner using the tag on its collar. The owner arrived shortly after and burst into tears upon seeing her beloved pet again. The dog had apparently jumped out of their car hours earlier and wandered off. Thanks to Hawkins’ quick thinking, the furry adventurer was safely back in loving arms.

Solana Beach Dog Dies in Coyote Attack

In Solana Beach, a pack of coyotes attacked 82-year-old Roberta Hennigan and her small dog, Daisy, a 7-year-old poodle/Lhasa apso mix. Daisy was killed instantly, and Hennigan sustained serious injuries, including a broken eye socket, cheekbone, and brain bleed, requiring a five-day hospital stay. The attack happened just steps from her garage, with the coyotes silently ambushing both dog and owner. Neighbors helped after she managed to get inside and call for help. Residents report more frequent coyote packs, prompting safety measures like whistles, pepper spray, and zappers.

K-9 Tracks Down Missing Kids in National Forest

Two 11-year-olds went missing in the thick woods of Hoosier National Forest after becoming separated from their mother. Multiple agencies, including local police and fire departments, launched a search but initially found nothing. Deputy Cody Loncaric and his K-9 partner, Knox, arrived and immediately began tracking the children. Knox led first responders on a 550-yard trail through the forest, ultimately locating both kids safely. The team credited Knox’s skill and coordination with helping bring the children home.

Injured Hiker’s Dog Airlifted from Arizona Canyon

A dog was seriously injured after a fall while hiking with its owner in an Arizona canyon near Phoenix. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit responded, arriving about two hours after the call. Rescue personnel located the group deep in the canyon and assisted the owner onto a helicopter first. Using a special K9 rescue harness, they airlifted the injured dog to safety. The dog’s two friends hiked out on their own. The owner planned to take the dog to a veterinarian for treatment afterward.

Senator Throws Birthday Bash for Bulldog

Sen. Jim Justice celebrated his bulldog Babydog’s 6th birthday in the Hart Senate Office Building, despite a government shutdown ongoing for over two weeks. Staffers from both parties lined up for photos, bulldog-shaped cake pops, and a chance to sign a birthday card. Justice said Babydog brings joy to everyone, no matter their background or political affiliation. He personally paid for the party and didn’t worry about optics, emphasizing it was about love for his dog. The event provided a rare moment of levity in a tense Capitol. After the celebration, the Senate continued its deadlocked voting on the continuing resolution.
