Concerns about potential unintended consequences, such as landlords refusing all tenants with dogs, have also been raised.

New Legislation Aims to Improve Breeding Standards.

Indiana Senate passes bill regulating dog breeders to enhance canine welfare. The measure aims to hold breeders accountable and establish standards for their care. The bill sets standards for care, creates a registry system, and imposes fines for violations, overseen by the Board of Animal Health.

While the search for a new record holder continues, Bobi's legacy as a beloved guard dog in Portugal remains.

Dogs at Risk in Iowa Breeder Operation.

State regulators recommend downsizing an Iowa breeder's operation after multiple dog deaths due to cold weather. A federal inspector reported puppies dying from the cold at the kennel, along with other serious incidents. Despite a follow-up inspection finding more violations, the number of dogs at the kennel has increased. Animal-welfare advocates have filed a complaint, but no charges have been filed yet. This highlights the importance of proper breeder regulations to ensure animal safety.
