Florida's New Inclusive Dog Ownership Law. Starting October 1st, Florida is rolling out a new law that's great news for dog owners! This new law stops local governments from banning specific breeds like pit bulls, focusing more on safety and less on breed labels. Previously, there were restrictions based on size and weight for safety reasons, and now these criteria are treated equally. While public housing authorities can still set dog-related rules, the law promotes fairness by not singling out particular breeds, sizes, or weights.
